DAK: Descartes a Kant (Mex)

Equal parts Punk, Metal, Pop, Shoegaze and Cabaret, the critically-acclaimed underground sextet, Descartes a Kant (Guadalajara, Mexico) have made a real name for themselves as an otherworldly, unpredictable theatrical live act. So much so that even the Wall Street Journal chimed to say that “trying to describe their music is to do it a disservice. It’s loud, racy, incredibly imaginative, sophisticated, funny and wild; it’s as if the Yeah Yeah Yeahs fronted Albert Ayler with Frank Zappa conducting”. They’re considered one of the leading lights in the vibrant, ever-evolving Mexican experimental underground and are now poised to gain greater international acceptance.

Lead by strong female characters, their earlier two releases Paper Dolls (an intense and bipolar short song hardcore album, ode to multiple personality) and Il Visore Lunatique (a tribute on psychiatric disorders that goes from hip-hop to a bizarre broadway style musical) led them to perform and thrill both club and festival audiences all over the world – including Mexico, USA, Russia, Brazil, etc – and share bills with The Melvins, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sonic Youth, Explosions in the Sky and Slayer.

Descartes to Kant returns this 2023 with a new studio album titled After Destruction. Soon to be released on September 29th in all formats, this conceptual material proposes a narrative arc exploring the cycles of existential creation and destruction. After Destruction portrays psychic discomfort in a compulsively hyper-communicative but emotionally isolated society, with a retro-futuristic aesthetic, destructive guitars, synthesizers and soulful melodies.

Modula Nation (AT)

Modula Nation is a distinctive fusion of experimental-psychedelic-space rock combined with heavy industrial riffs, complex rhythms and tight grooves. The Group was formed in Graz and is one of the most promising rock bands of the Austrian underground scene. The progressive rock quartet from Graz delivers pulsating space rock odysseys that take their audience on a psychedelic journey into various musical worlds.

Modula Nation has had the honour to share the stage with legendary artists such as: Molotov, Tito & Tarantula, Mother's Cake, KMFDM and Skinny Puppy among others. The project sprouted out of previous musical combos of singer, multi-instrumentalist Heinz Wallner and fellow bassist and long time collaborator Ricardo Paz.

Their friendship and love for a wide range of musical genres combined with brainstorming all night jam sessions aided to develop the bands individual musical sound.Further band members who complete Modula Nation's musical vision are Philipp Pluhar on drums and electronics as well as Markus Steinrück on guitars.

The recording and production phase of Modula Nation's long awaited debut album titled "THE RIFT" is finally complete. The album will be released via Tonzonen Records (GER) in 2026. Read below for more details on the upcoming album.
