Mount Pleasant is a raw and introspective account of love and isolation. Taking cues from early 2000s pop and '90s emo-punk, and set in the desert metropolis Los Angeles, Anthea's debut album captures the modern tension between physical and emotional
space. Taking LA as micro-model of global and digitial realities, the album reflects on a world not made to the measure of humanity, and reflects on the vain and powerless attempt to genuinely connect through screens and across time zones. But as covering long distances and finding workarounds in a vast cityscape frees time for thoughts to meander, the struggle is tranquil and solemn: As we sink into our surroundings, old patterns are
reshuffled and fears forgotten. Amidst all internal noise, Mount Pleasant is a thread of liberation-of learning to exist outside the pressure to look perfect or fit in. It is a story of finding comfort and discovering
