Emanuel Ayvas is the writer and frontman of the Brooklyn based band Emanuel and the Fear. Born into a family of Greek-American folk musicians in the NYC suburbs of northern New Jersey, Ayvas' first performances were with his grandfathers dance band playing traditional Greek and Turkish songs for parties and events in the Tri-State area.
He went on to study classical piano performance and composition while simultaneously pursuing a career in Olympic pole vaulting. After graduating from university, he decided his mind was best put to use as a composer, rather than trying to fly, and moved back home and soon thereafter to Brooklyn, New York where he now still lives.
Ayvas and the rest of Emanuel and the Fear are currently in the process of completing their third full length album which will be their fifth release. He is also working with a NYC based film maker on a contemporary dance piece along with some other side projects that will soon be seeing the light of day.
