Dem Animationsfilm werden gerne zwei widersprüchliche Eigenschaften nachgesagt: ein Hang zum Düsteren und Humor. Beide Elemente finden sich in diesem Programm. Für Haus der Regierung fanden andere AutorInnen den Begriff „Horrorszenario“, und die Lebenswelten der beiden Brüder in Black Dogsind auch ziemlich deprimierend. Dafür bilden Manly Mountain of Men und Queere Tiere unterhaltsame Lichtblicke, und der mehrfach preisgekrönte Min Börda vereint beides: Es bedarf einer gehörigen Prise Witz, wenn angesichts eher trostloser Settings die ProtagonistInnen tanzen und singen. Two contradictory characteristics are often attributed to animation film: a dark tendency and humor. Both elements crop up in this program. Some authors have associated the term “horror scenario” with Government House, and the lives of the two brothers in Black Dog are admittedly quite depressing. Manly Mountain of Men and Queer Animals, in contrast, are entertaining rays of hope, while the award-winning The Burden combines the two: after all, it takes a healthy dash of humor to have the protagonists dance and sing in the face of a rather dismal setting.
