BALU & DIE SURFGRAMMELN / PORTOBELLO EXPRESS Chelsea, 23.05.'19

PORTOBELLO EXPRESS – klingelts bei dieser Namensgebung? Es erinnert daran, dass die Wurzeln der Band im Sound des Swinging London von 1967 liegen. Portobello Express findet sich stilistisch zwischen psychedelischem Rock mit bluesigen Untertönen a la John Mayalls´ Bluesbreakers und klassischem Sixties R&B wieder. Während der vergangenen beiden Jahre spielte die Band neben vielen Club Gigs diverse Shows in der heimischen und italienischen Mod Szene und untertstütze als Tour Support zB. Heavyball (UK), the Movement (DK) and the Cheekbonians (CH) nur um ein paar Namen zu nennen.
Nach dem ersten Single Release „ Take A Trip On the Beat ‘n’ Soul Train” des Jahres 2017 schoss die Band am 6. Juni 2018 ihre nächste EP “2-3-4!” auf Andy Abrahams (Hallucination Company) Label „abra FUN music“ nach. Momentan zeigt sich Portobello Express beschäftigt in der Aufbereitung von neuem Material für kommende Aufnahmen und Live Shows für 2019.

Terror strikes from the bottom of River Danube – this invasion of generic Viennese natives brings you a ton of twangy guitars, swirling melodies from a fretless bass and primitive, hyper-sexual pounding drums, celebrating sonic landscapes built out of high-speed instro-mental Rock'n Roll.
Their origins and influences yet remain unclear; however, the most widely accepted theory is that they were taken at an early age from their natural parents Edmund Sackbauer and Lily Munster bymhideous aliens who exposed them to some sort of education solely consisting of old B-movies and obscure instrumental records in a Martian orphanage run by the Cat Women of the Moon.
