Royal Diving Academy presents:
CAMPCORE (Film Premiere & Konzert)
Special Guest: Gabriel Gustav Braun
Royal Diving Academy is an Austrian band with roots in the Viennese Psychedelic-Rock Subculture. Before they founded the Academy they released the album alrite as a trio under the name Glee. The three piece band created an elaborate sound by combining a rock approach with a jazz attitude. Traces of Miles Davis are found in the compositions as well as allusions to the Beatles. Especially when it comes to harmonizing and the joy of experimenting with sounds and the roles of the different instruments. Sometimes you find the bass to be the lead instrument. Sometimes the drums break out of the rhythmic cage to let the others stick to the beat. It is full of tongue in cheek moves and musical references.
With the release of the Live-Album Campcore the band grew into a five-piece. With two special voices joining the original trio: The versatile 70s Fusion Violin of Roxannne Szankovich (Toxic Violin) and the charming voice of Clara Wolf (Almuth). That opened up new dimensions when it comes to storytelling perspective and musical texture.
// About “Campcore”
Campcore is a special one. It’s a album captured in front of rolling cameras. It’s a concert movie, but leaves the boundaries to take the viewer into a lush world of sweet melancholy. It’s five people in one room trying to catch that sentiment of being happy about the possibility of being hurt and get out with a smile on every single face.
